Electric signs are signs with built-in lighting: channel letters, halo-lit dimensional logos, backlit lobby panels, lit cabinets and digital displays. High Stakes Creative designs, produces and installs illuminated signs for offices, storefronts and campuses across metro Atlanta, and coordinates the power and permit work with your electrician and the city or county.

Why lighting changes what a sign does

An unlit sign works for half the day. A lit sign keeps working after dark, on gray afternoons and in a lobby where the ceiling lights are dimmed. It is also the sign people notice first, which is why lit logos are so common at reception desks and on building fronts.

Lighting has to be planned with the sign, not added after. The letter depth, the face material, the LED layout and the mounting all decide how evenly the sign glows and how it looks in daylight. We plan those details with the drawings, then coordinate the power, the permit and the install so the sign comes on the day it goes up.

Electric sign types we build

Halo-lit dimensional logos

Solid-faced letters and logos that shine light back onto the wall behind them. The soft outline suits lobbies, reception walls and upscale building fronts, like the halo-lit logo at The Westcott in Canton.

Backlit lobby and reception logos

Logo panels lit from behind, on a wall or built into a reception desk. They give a lobby a finished, branded focal point, as at Grant Thornton and GDCR Attorneys in Marietta.

Front-lit channel letters

Individual letters with faces that glow, mounted on a raceway or directly to the facade. They read clearly from the road at night, which is why most storefronts use them.

Illuminated monuments

Monument signs with internally lit cabinets, halo-lit letters or ground lighting so the entrance is easy to find after dark. See monument signs for the full range.

Digital display monuments

Monuments with an LED message board for changing information, like the digital monument at International Paper's mill in Rome and the Welcome to Blairsville monument.

Refacing existing lit signs

After a rebrand, an existing cabinet or raceway can often take new faces or letters. We inspect the structure and wiring before recommending a reface or a replacement.

A typical illuminated sign scope

A lit sign package for an office building usually reads like this on our sign schedule. The building, the landlord and the ordinance set the final sizes.

What clients say on Google

Every High Stakes Creative review on Google is five stars. A few in the clients' own words.

★★★★★

Their work on the interior and exterior signage for The Westcott was very professional and they have been so great to work with. They did everything in a timely manner, addressed and resolved any issues immediately, and were very helpful with our initial decision-making and design options.

The Westcott at CantonGoogle review · Interior and exterior signage
★★★★★

Since that time, we've done vehicles, commercial building signage, interior signage, and much more. We name High Stakes as our preferred signage contractor for all our commercial tenants as well. They always out perform and if anything is an issue (almost never) they make it right!

Juanita C.Google review · Vehicles, building and interior signage
★★★★★

We hired Matt and High Stakes on a referral from a friend at another sign company (that's saying a LOT!) to produce a new lighted building sign for our comic & toy shop expansion. They were great to work with, highly communicative, helped us figure out a version of the sign that would fit within our budget. We ALREADY have new customers into the store because they have SEEN our new sign!

What drives the cost of an illuminated sign

Cost depends on size, construction and the site. Halo-lit and front-lit letters cost more than unlit letters of the same size, and a digital display costs more again. The number of letters, the face and return materials, the mounting surface, lift or crane access, removal of an old sign, permit requirements and the distance to power all affect the total. We visit the site, review the landlord and permit rules, then provide a fixed scope and itemized quote.

Questions buyers ask us

What counts as an electric sign?

Any sign with built-in lighting: channel letters, halo-lit (reverse-lit) dimensional logos, backlit lobby and reception panels, lit cabinets and digital displays. If the sign needs a power connection, it is an electric sign.

Do illuminated signs need a permit in metro Atlanta?

Usually. Exterior signs generally need a sign permit from the city or county where the property sits, and the power connection is electrical work that a licensed electrician performs. We confirm what your jurisdiction requires during the site review and prepare the drawings the application asks for.

Who runs the power to the sign?

A licensed electrician brings power to the sign location. We work with yours, your landlord's or your general contractor's, tell them where the connection needs to be, and schedule the install around them.

What is the difference between front-lit and halo-lit letters?

Front-lit channel letters glow through their faces, which makes them easy to read from the road at night. Halo-lit letters have solid faces and light that shines back onto the wall behind them, creating a soft outline that suits lobbies and upscale facades.

Can a lit sign come on and off automatically?

Yes. Exterior signs are usually set on a timer or a photocell so they turn on at dusk and off at a set hour. We plan the controls with your electrician.

Can you update an existing lit sign after a rebrand?

Often. If the cabinet or raceway is sound, new faces, letters or graphics can go on the existing structure. We inspect the sign first and give you the options before recommending a full replacement.

What do you need to quote an illuminated sign?

Send the property address, photos of the wall or site, any landlord or association sign rules, your logo files and brand colors, and your timeline. We follow up with a site visit and a fixed, itemized quote.
